TED Parker, a mogul who made a name for himself in the mobile home industry, has died at age 71.
Parker, who was the former owner of Ted Parker Home Sales of Lumberton, died on Tuesday at his home in Calabash, North Carolina, less than two miles north of the South Carolina border.
A cause of death was not given, though it was reported that Parker had been battling health issues in recent years, according to The Robesonian.
"He was just a real person. Down to earth," Parker's friend and former employee Victor Brewington told the outlet.
"He came from nothing and made something, so he understood what it was to not have anything.
"So he was never above anybody he ever spoke to."

Brewington added: "He was the best as far as I’m concerned.
"The most prosperous time that I ever had was when I was working for him."
A North Carolina native, Parker rose to fame in the 1980s and 1990s for selling manufactured homes.

Parker also owned the 13,000-square-foot Ted Parker Mansion in Lumberton, located about 130 miles southeast of Charlotte.
The estate was sold to investors after Parker's home business went bankrupt in 1998.
Parker leaves behind a wife, Victoria Stone Parker, two children, and three grandchildren.
